Today, Rumesh Tharanga won another gold medal. It was in the javelin throw event at the Asian Games. Rumesh's performance was 88.55 meters.
The event was challenging for all the participating athletes due to the rain.
In this competition held in Japan, Rumesh showed a skill of 73.53 meters in his first attempt. However, by the end of the first three rounds, Rumesh was in 3rd place.
And by the end of the 3rd round, the two Indian athletes were ahead. It was in the fourth round that Rumesh showed his superb skills with a throw of 88.33 meters. But in the 5th attempt, Rumesh failed again. But he did not back down. In the 6th attempt, he showed the aforementioned skill and won the gold medal in the javelin throw event. Accordingly, this was the first gold medal won at the Asian Games. However, it is reported that the rain was a big obstacle for all the athletes participating in this event.
