Steps have been taken to launch a boat service enabling tourists to visit the eight sandbanks located in the area of the Rama Setu (Adam's Bridge)—extending from Mannar—with the aim of developing the tourism sector in the Northern Province.
The service will operate from Talaimannar, and a trial run was recently conducted under the leadership of the Governor of the Northern Province.
Consequently, tourists have been able to undertake this excursion since the 28th of the month.
This initiative offers tourists the opportunity to view the sandbanks and the area's natural beauty. Decisions regarding designated locations for boat stops and other operational details were finalized following discussions with relevant officials, with the ultimate goal of boosting tourism in the region.
Furthermore, upon launching the project, officials noted that this initiative would create new income-generating opportunities for the local population through the tourism sector.
