The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has issued a statement urging caution regarding the sharing of children's photographs and videos on social media.
The Ministry notes that the trend of uploading children's photos and videos to the internet—with or without parental consent—has risen sharply following the implementation of monetization policies on platforms like Facebook.
It has been confirmed that various individuals and organizations are utilizing these videos for commercial purposes under the guise of showcasing children's talents or highlighting their playful activities.
The statement further adds:
Exposing children's daily lives to external parties through videos and vlogs places their personal safety at serious risk. Furthermore, there is a growing risk that such videos and photographs uploaded to the internet could be used to create obscene content through Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. Therefore, we urge parents and all those responsible for the care and safety of children to exercise greater vigilance and responsibility regarding social media usage in order to protect them from such dangerous situations.
