Cabinet approval has been granted for Phase III of the Baseline Road Extension Project, which involves upgrading the road section from Kirulapone Junction to Dutugemunu Street on the Colombo-Horana Road.
Under Phase III of the Baseline Road Extension Project, plans are in place to upgrade a 0.86-kilometer stretch of road—extending from Kirulapone Junction to Dutugemunu Street on the Colombo-Horana Road—into a six-lane thoroughfare. This upgrade will incorporate infrastructure improvements such as an underpass, signalized intersections, pedestrian facilities, and enhanced drainage systems. Bids for the project have been invited in accordance with the National Competitive Bidding procedure. The Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development to award the contract to the lowest bidder, Maga Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, for a sum of Rs. 2.89 billion (excluding Value Added Tax), based on the recommendations of the High-Level Procurement Committee following the evaluation of seven bids received for the project.
